I had plantar fasciitis two years ago and the suede Arizona Birks were the only shoes I could wear comfortably for months. It took a couple of days to break the shoes in due to the firm footbed and heel cup, but once they were broken in, it was bliss. A good friend of mine recently had plantar fasciitis herself and also began wearing the Arizona Birks. Ever since my own PF episode, I've avoided going barefoot around the house and wear only the Arizona Birks while indoors. They've held up remarkably well, and I dread the day something accidentally happens to them which means I have to buy another pair of Arizonas just in case. I know they're more expensive than most sandals -- mine cost $110 at a mall store -- but they're worth the money. I have flat feet, while my friend has a really high arch, yet the Arizona Birks work wonderfully for both of us. I now have about 12 pairs of Birkenstocks in a variety of styles, and plan on buying more. Birkenstocks give tremendous support with its toe grip and molded footbed, especially since it conforms to your foot within a few days.
